9 Oliveres expands its plantation with more than 400 native olive trees

With the aim of increasing our production capacity and recovering abandoned land, the 9oliveres team has planted 460 olive trees. With this initiative, the Alicante cooperative seeks, on the one hand, to publicize the autochthonous varieties of our area and, on the other hand, to maintain its commitment to the care of the Sierra de Mariola Natural Park, since the planting of new trees avoids the possibility of fires and the procreation of pests.

On the 9 Oliveres farm it has been decided to plant two types of olive trees: the Alfafarenca variety and the Changot Real variety. The latter is of special interest since it is an almost extinct variety of olive tree that is native to the province of Alicante.

This first plantation is only the first phase of an ambitious project to recover abandoned land. In the coming months, approximately 700 more olive trees will be planted.
